Baffled Emmerdale viewers have pointed out a major blunder with Doug Pott's 'rushed' exit. Just one day after returning to the UK, Doug decided to fly back out to Australia and live in Sandy Thomas' old apartment. Doug nearly cancelled his plans after discovering that Arthur had been bullying Archie - vowing to stay to look after his grandson. But apologetic Arthur said: "What would make me the happiest is you going on your Australian adventure. Not giving up your dreams for me." A huge crowd of family and friends gathered to wave Doug off, including his daughter Laurel. Friend and rival Eric Pollard admitted he would miss Doug, while the pensioner told Jai Sharma he had better take good care of his daughter. Ex Diane Sugden told Doug to look after himself and not to have any "wild adventures in the outback". But gutted Doug was convinced that Brenda Walker was not coming and started to drive off after warning Laurel not to ruin his plants. Doug said: "I think our problem was we thought we planted seeds, tended them, but nothing ever grew. "I’m sure you’ll find the right seeds to make it blossom." Emmerdale viewers took to Twitter to point out a problem with Doug's hasty exit. One viewer said: "I don’t usually do this, but how has Doug managed to secure the finances and visa to emigrate to Australia in like 2 days?" "How the hell did Doug manage to get a visa to move to Australia in less than 24 hours," asked another. A third suggested: "They should have said that Doug was born in Australia and has a dual citizenship. You can't just move to Australia. They are very choosy and it takes months and months" "Hasn't Doug got a criminal record? Surely he can't emigrate to Australia and especially this quick," said a fourth. *Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV at 7pm with an extra episode on Thursdays at 8pm
