In this video I talk about the importance of doing one thing at a time. People are not at all used to it and hence the ever-increasing stress levels. Yes, you read that right, multitasking is the bane of modern life. It is the predominant factor for the malady called stress. If we can start putting all our attention on the task at hand, if we can give complete and total attention to what we do, then it can completely transform our whole life. One disciple walked up to a Zen Master and said to him, O Master, what is the essence of Spirituality, what actually is the essence of Zen? The Master replied, One thing at a time! So you see, how powerful doing one thing at a time can be, so much so, Masters have even called it the essence of Spiritual Life. If you have a close look at the life of any Awakened, Enlightened Master, you would come to know the secret of their Enlightenment. Yes, it was nothing but the most powerful One Thing At A Time Teaching. It has stood the test of time. Whoever has got enlightened, he/she got enlightened only when they were paying their complete and total attention to the task at hand. That's why you hear the funny stories of Enlightenment in Zen Tradition. Some got enlightened while fetching a bucket of water, some got enlightened while chopping the wood, some while drawing the water from the well, and some while doing the dishes.
