Daegu declines to accept US$ 10 mil. donation from Shincheonji

대구시장 신천지 120억 기부 거부

The municipal government of Daegu and the Community Chest of Korea have decided not to accept a donation worth some 10 million U.S. dollars from Shincheonji,... the religious group at the center of the surge in coronavirus cases in South Korea.
Reflecting the negative public sentiment against the group,... Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin said rather than a huge donation... what's needed from the Shincheonji is their full cooperation in the city's containment efforts.
Kwon noted that some of the group's members have refused to be tested for the virus or to enter treatment facilties.
