Curettage of plantar warts requires a bloodless field. Podiatrists in Australia currently cannot use local anaesthetic with adrenaline. We tried an ankle tourniquet that did provide a bloodless field. It was difficult to apply and initially caused the patient discomfort. With familiarity, application should be straight forward and within a couple of minutes, the patient tolerated the pressure well.
