Hey guys, welcome back to our Channel iSchoolConnect. Every week we upload new videos where we talk to all you people out there who are aspiring to study abroad and we discuss some really interesting facts and ideas around studying abroad. So, today's video we thought we will talk about something super interesting university that is the very famous Boston University. Boston has known widely for finance and medicine, also flourishes on the education front with world-renowned Institutes such as MIT, Howard University, and Boston University and so many others. Boston is a hub for culture, art, and history and it's also the proud capital of Massachusetts. Boston as a city has a charming slang of its own and this is also known as the Boston English. While there is an entire dictionary of slang out there, I think my favorite is definitely dunks or dankies and if you're wondering what that is it's basically what they call Dunkin Donuts over there.
Alrighty, so let's get straight into everything that you need to know about the university. Located right in the heart of Boston city is Boston University, founded in 1839 with over 17 schools and colleges and almost 300 programs of study. BU is one of the best universities in not just Massachusetts but of course in the USA. Renowned for its medical and law programs the Boston University acceptance rate is fairly strict with only 25% of total applicants getting admitted to it.
Now coming to the line, this university is ranked according to the performance across a set of widely accepted indicators such as excellence, and the Boston University ranking is a good 93 on the list of QS world rankings. The Boston University acceptance rate is literally 33% with a graduation rate of over 85%.
Next, we're gonna talk about research and faculty. Boston University is widely known as a private nonprofit research university. The faculty at BU provides their expert opinion, comments, and analysis to students on a wide range of subjects and the students often praise the professors for being quite accessible to the students.
Next and the most important question, what are the academic requirements and would you be a suitable candidate for Boston University. So BU offers a wide range of programs in categories such as arts, literature, business, medicine, sociology and all of those. But it's also important that there are some unwritten admission requirements along with your official transcripts, letters of recommendation, statement of purpose and all of that.
So, we are looking at a GPA of at least 6 out of 10, and in terms of 4, it's going to be at least 3.6. With SAT you should have a score of at least 1290 with a CT we are looking at at least 27. And in terms of GRE, the average will have to be over 60% in verbal and about 80% in quantitative. With respect to TOEFL, we are looking at a score of at least 85+. And IELTS, we are again looking at a good score of 7 on an average.
So, coming up next and slightly less stressful than the academic requirements is the extracurricular activities. At Boston University along with many arts and education clubs and activities, Boston University and the surrounding universities enjoy some very healthy sports competitions. And the city also holds the bean pot which also attracts a lot of crowds. The bean pot is a hockey tournament where the Boston University, Howard, the Northeastern University, all compete against each other and then they have the whole bragging once they win the hockey game.
The last and most important part is about the Bucks. So, in terms of tuition and expenses, BU advises international students to apply for fall admissions, to allow them sufficient time to process your application. The average Boston University tuition fees for undergraduates we are looking at a number of about $26k. And for graduates, we are looking at about $48k.
To help you with the hefty tuition fees and other expenses BU also offers various scholarships and cooperative education programs. The most important thing which is the ROI is also extremely lucrative once you pass out of Boston University. So we're looking at at least $60k right after graduating as a possible package for all the aspirants. so that's all on Boston University guys, I hope this covered most of the important information that you're looking at and this helps you in applying to your dream college.
